Pensacola State College hosts the SkillsUSA Region 1 Competition in conjunction with the fifth annual Worlds of Possibilities Career Expo, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 24-25.
More than 350 high school and college students from Pensacola to Tallahassee are expected to compete in a variety of skilled events. Competitions are held on the college’s campuses at Pensacola and Warrington, as well as the Locklin Technical Center and George Stone Technical Center.
SkillsUSA competitions are based on leadership, service and technical fields ranging from carpentry to culinary arts to health occupations.
An additional 2,500 seventh and eighth grade students from Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties are slated to visit the Worlds of Possibilities Career Expo on the PSC Pensacola campus. Local businesses and vendors in technical and vocational career fields engage the students with exciting hands-on and interactive activities.
New this year is the World of Information Technology and Cyber Security. Several colleges and universities from across the Southeast will have representatives at the World of Education. Other career worlds include construction, finance, energy, health and life science, manufacturing, and public service.
The public is invited to tour the Worlds of Possibilities Expo from 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.
